Everyone thinks it’s easy, right?

Well that is not quite the case. It does take some work and knowledge to get the best  search engine placement that everyone desires. Google uses ‘algorithms’ to grade your site.  Algorithms are the tests that they use for a website in order to give it a ‘grade’.

When we were in school, some of our classes were graded by, maybe three or four factors. They may have included things like class participation, term paper grade, attendance and test scores.

One may be worth 20% of the grade and another 40%.  The teacher makes the decision on that.

Google is like the net teacher. It chooses the factors to grade your website.

These factors include 3 basic features:

1. On page factors.  Is your title and the page the same topic? If Google decides that the keyword, title of the post and the page content are not related very well, the grade for that page goes down. If they deal with the same subject then that helps get a good grade.
2. Are you getting traffic? If not, then they may feel that there is a reason for that.
3. Backlinks. If you have good backlinks to your site then that helps your grade. Backlinks are links from another site that go to your site if it is clicked on. If that link is on an authority site (a website that Google considers a powerful site in its niche) then that helps even more.
